NIS serves Division customers of TTI with a variety of IT services. Customers are increasingly asking NIS to provide input into IT services, such as technology consulting, business analysis, project management, solutioning, and others. Increases in demands for new IT services require greater communication, coordination, collaboration, and cooperation.
The purpose of the IT Liaison program is to;
- increase communication, coordination, collaboration, and cooperation with our customers,
- provide an additional path to escalate IT issues for resolution,
- learn and know about our customers’ current business needs and future aspirations, and
- act as an advisor for current and future projects.

Implementation
For each represented Division/Group, NIS IT Liaisons contacted their respective Divisions during the month of January 2020 to introduce themselves and set up a time to have an initial meeting. During this meeting, liaisons reviewed the following points:
- IT Liaison Program – Discuss the purpose of the Liaison program. Note that adjustment in liaisons for the first 6 months may happen as a result of workloads.
- Division Liaison – Decide who in your division/group will be your Division Liaison. This could be anyone, but preferably should be either the division head or a senior member. This person acts as a single point of contact for the escalation of issues.
- Meeting Cadence – Decide on a meeting cadence with you or your team. Ideally, this should be 1-2 times per month. The venue will change from division to division, but staff meetings, management meetings, and individual meetings are good candidates.
- Demand & ITG Process – Describe in general terms how NIS breaks down work into Projects and Operational Work. He/she will also provide a brief description of the IT Governance Process (more coming).
- Review IT Work – Provide an initial report of the work that NIS is doing for you. This could include Demands, Projects, Incidents, and/or Help Requests.
- LISTEN – Listen to you for feedback, project ideas, and issues that should be elevated.
- LEARN – Learn from you how your Division/Group operates, what are its main areas of interest, who does what, and how we can help you.
